ISIS appoints interim commander in Afghanistan

Abdul Hasib Logari has been appointed as the new interim commander of the group in the country, following the killing of Hafiz Saeed, ISIS former commander in Afghanistan.

Hafiz Saeed, the former leader of ISIS in Khorasan was targeted and killed by a U.S drone strike in Nangarhar Province a few days ago.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) calls Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of Central Asia as “Khorasan”.

ISIS loyalists had established a base in Nangarhar Eastern province of Afghanistan, but the Afghan National forces in cooperation with U.S forces has been able to suppress their base in the province.
