Charles Klifland, spokesman for NATO resolute support mission, says that he will encourage Pakistan and Afghanistan to resolve the Torkham tensions between the two countries through dialogues.
He stressed that the problem is only solved through dialogue.

The most effective role the NATO resolute support mission can play regarding the issue, is to continue its encouragements so the two countries to hold negotiations to solve the problem, said the NATO spokesman.

“We believe that the tensions arose between the two countries can only be solved through diplomatic approaches, therefore, we are inspiriting them to do so”, added the spokesman.

The Afghan government and the national assembly members have also stressed that fighting between Afghan and Pakistani security forces is not the appropriate solution, and the problem should be resolved through diplomacy.

Tensions at the Torkham passageway on Sunday happened while the Pakistani forces tried to make military installations at the zero line of the border, but they were faced with the response of Afghan security forces.
