Afghan President and his Chief Executive have begun a fresh round of talks on the full implementation of the national unity government’s political agreement with the presence of the U.S ambassador to Afghanistan, Hafiz Mansoor, an Afghan lawmaker said.

According to Mansoor, who is also a prominent member of Jamiat-e-Islami political party, the new round of intensive talks between the two leaders began last week in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Mansoor said the government cannot bring reforms only by making replacements in government offices or by reassigning government officials to new positions, but the cadre policy of the Afghan security agencies should also be reviewed.
Mansour added that the Interior Ministry officials have a symbolic role and that the power has been monopolized by one person and his aides in the presidential palace.

Regarding the recent tensions between the government and Jamiat-e-Islami party, Mansoor said, “No one is attempting to challenge the government, and these tensions were only at the level of differences and were aimed at finding and offering solutions to the current challenges in accordance with the principles of democracy and the law.

The prominent member of the Jamiat-e-Islami party asserted that no government can be formed without the party’s participation as the chief executive office, the ministries of interior and foreign affairs as well as the chief of staff office are currently being run by members of the Jamiat-e-Islami party.
